Nice article Titanium is a good option, HOWEVER, ringbolts like the one in the photo need to be recessed at least the thickness of the rod that they are made from to stop them twisting out with any falls from either side. In the Blue Mountains (Australia) there are thousands of rings, and about 50 have loosesned due to insufficient countersinking. For thias reason people tend to use U bolts here instead. Michael law
